Do you really see a difference in a history/political science degree from Wise compared to Tech?

Um. No. Pamplin is a nationally ranked business school for undergrad and MBA programs.

history...big plus to VT, VT has one professor who is better then your entire "university"...Dr. Robertson

I disagree with both of you all. And VTgal can vouch for this, in the real world, nobody gives a damn where you graduate from. To get most jobs, employers want work experience. 99% of what you learn in college doesnt mean crap so in reality, where you go to school or the ranking of a school is beyond overrated. To go a little further, every single out of state job interview that Ive had, the employer always said "oh so you went to UVA, thats impressive" so even if it has the at wise in it, nobody outside of virginia knows the difference. In retrospect, Vtgal's marketing degree from vt is no better than my business administration degree.

so wise students are banking on an employer not knowing it's actually uva-wise??

I seriously doubt the smartest man/woman in America goes to Harvard. For all you know the next big CEO/physician/businessman/lawyer could be at Central Backweeds Wyoming Poly A&M State simply because of finances or any other one of an innumerable list of circumstances. The smarter and most resilient people in the world will make do with what they have.

That being said, most people go to Tech to party and for football, but there are a respectable number of gems that come out of the school - more so a minority than the rule. I just hate VT with all my heart, sorry.

no youre missing the point, employers first and foremost see that your disciplined enough to go to a 4 year college and graduate. Second, there are SOOOOOO many graudates in the world, that employers really arent going to be impressed with where you graduated because the only thing you can really do for them is do entry level work. Employers will take a high school graduate with 5 years work experience in the area they need over a recent college graduate any day of the week, regardless of where they went to college.

and just to add a little to this subject, a college degree doesn't necessarily make you smart, all it does is show you know how to look stuff up.

So you should know how? I think you basically ask me if i was drunk in another post because i questioned a coaching change and how it was done.
